San Salvador - Fantasmas 109-59 Leader San Salvador delivered the thirteenth victory. This time they crushed 6th ranked Fantasmas (5-9) 109-59. San Salvador dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Fantasmas' 32 and made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Fantasmas 61-34 including a 40-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. San Salvador players were unselfish on offense dishing 37 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Fantasmas' players. It was a good game for American center Marc Montavious (206-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Roberto Martinez contributed with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four San Salvador players scored in double figures. Cuban point guard Osmel Oliva (180-1987) replied with 22 points and 4 assists and guard Carlos Sorto (185-1997) added 11 points and 4 assists in the effort for Fantasmas. Fantasmas' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. San Salvador (13-1) have an impressive 13-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Fantasmas at the other side dropped to the seventh place with nine games lost. They share the position with Santiagueno. San Salvador will play against Brujos (#4) in Izalco in the next round. Fantasmas will play at home against Chalchuapa and hope to get back on the winning track. It was a good game for Dominican guard Jose Liriano (189-1998) who led his team to a victory with 31 points and 7 rebounds. Colombian Michaell Jackson (190-1987) contributed with 28 points for the winners. Santa Tecla's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American swingman Andravious Smith (196-1995, college: Tougaloo) replied with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Jordon Myers (201-1998) added 31 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Cojute. Santa Tecla have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 13-2 record having just one point less than leader San Salvador. Cojute at the other side keeps the tenth place with 12 games lost. Santa Tecla will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cojute will play on the road against Santa Ana (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track. This time they won against ninth-ranked Nejapa 100-86. Strangely Nejapa outrebounded Chalchuapa 56-39 including a 26-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American Gorg Alhag (190-1997, college: Mayville St.) who had a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Puerto Rican point guard Ryann Abraham (182-1987, college: App State) chipped in 38 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Alhag is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Telvin Gabriel (198-1994, college: Lander) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points, 19 rebounds and 7 assists and his fellow American import Marcus Faison (196-1994, college: Salem St.) added 23 points, 20 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Four Nejapa players scored in double figures. Chalchuapa maintains eleventh position with 2-12 record. Nejapa lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 11 games lost. Chalchuapa are looking forward to face higher ranked Fantasmas (#7) in San Vicente in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Nejapa will play at home against Aguila and is hoping to win this game.
